This Grant is for Single Mothers with Cancer
Information Letter
The Audrey Gaines Cancer Foundation (AGCF) is pleased to award a financial assistance grant to single mothers with cancer who demonstrates a financial need and shows compassion to have helped others.
The grant will be awarded in the amount of $500.00. Applicant selection will be based on strength of character, financial need, and acts of kindness.
Additional information:
• Applicant must be a female who currently is diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment.
• Applicant must sign a release form agreeing to have their name and photo published on the AGCF website. AGCF reserves the right to use photographs and/or statements of grant recipients in any promotional materials.
• Applicant must include a letter, on an official letterhead, from a treating health care provider (doctor, nurse, or physical therapist) who can confirm diagnosis of cancer. The letter may not serve as a recommendation.
• Applicant must provide two completed and sealed letters of recommendation. (These must be non-family members).
• Applicant must submit a 200 word typed essay and include: introduction of applicant, opportunities to help others, and how the grant will assist with a financial need.
Applications will be accepted soon. The Grant committee will consider only ON TIME AND COMPLETED applications. Documents for grant consideration should be organized in a packet and mailed to: P.O. Box 7722, Hampton, VA 23666 during grant cycles.

Recipients of the financial Assistance Grant
Joyce Battle was the recipient of the The Audrey Gaines Scholarship in 2016; the scholarship was provided to assist the family with funeral services. Ms. Battle was a kind loving woman who loved her children and family. She was a caring person; always helping others. Her family and friends described her as a woman helping even when she didn't have much to give, always smiling, even through tough times.
Stacey Vinson was the awardee of the Audrey Gaines Foundation in 2020. She was a newly single parent, with several children and a grand child. She takes time out to help others in her community, so this grant helped Ms. Vinson with the financial concerns of her family.
